First and foremost, if you can't get Zoom to work, you should check Zoom's service status to see if the problem is at Zoom's end.

Point your browser at status. Shut down apps you're not using: Zoom and any video application can be demanding on your computer and internet connection, so it's worth shutting down apps you don't need if you're having problems. That frees up resources for Zoom to use. Make sure you're using the latest version of Zoom: There have been a number of Zoom updates recently, the latest version at the time of writing is Zoom 5.

You'll usually be prompted to update when you open Zoom if there's an update, but it's always worth checking, as some features change between updates. My app keeps crashing or closing: First of all, do both of the things above. If you're still having problems, try restarting your computer. If that doesn't solve it, check if there are any software updates for your computer. Zoom says my connection is unstable: Unfortunatly this happens from time to time.

This is a local connection problem so the first thing is to check your Wi-Fi connection or wired connection. This is definitely worth doing if you always have a connection problem on Zoom. If it's a one-off problem, there's likely nothing you can do about it except wait for the problem to pass - you could try stopping all other activity on your connection to let Zoom have all the bandwidth available. Check you're not muted: When you join a Zoom meeting you'll normally have to click to activate the microphone, because you're muted.

Look for the microphone icon in the bottom left hand corner, if it's crossed out, click it to unmute your microphone. If you're on the mobile app, you'll have to "join with audio" to be able to speak or hear sound. If using an external microphone: Many external mics have they own mute feature - make sure the mic itself isn't muted. Check your Bluetooth connection: If you join a call and no one can hear you, check you're not connected to a Bluetooth headset elsewhere in the house.

It might be that an existing connection has claimed your audio. Or, if you want to use a Bluetooth headset, make sure it's properly connected to the device running Zoom. Check the audio source in Zoom: If you're in a call and no one can hear you, you can click on the up arrow to expand the audio button in the Zoom app. You'll then see the options available on your computer so you can use the correct microphone.

Check the audio settings in Zoom: Similar to above, if you're not in a meeting you can open Zoom, open the settings and head to "audio". Here you'll have the option to set your preferences as well as test the microphone and speaker on your PC to see if it's working.

If your mic is too quiet, you can turn up the levels here. My Mac can't access the mic: Sometimes your Mac might say it can't access the microphone and ask you to restart. This might then ask for admin permission. Entering your details can then correct the mic fault without having to restart. Ensure your PC audio settings are correct: If you've not been able to fix the problem through Zoom itself, then check your settings or preferences on your computer.

Above everything else, check they actually work to help isolate the problem. Background noise is disrupting the call: If there's too much noise around you - people in the house, traffic noise, animals, aircraft, then consider using a noise cancelation app like Krisp. This can cut the background noise so you come across sounding clearer.

It can also cut background noise from others on the call, so you don't hear their noise either. Zoom has its own background noise filter too, which you can find in settings. Otherwise the only sound people will get is that coming through your mic. This option is in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen share options. There are echos or feedback on the audio: This usually happens when a mic detects audio coming from the speakers.

It might be that the microphone is too close to the speakers, it might be that someone is using a phone and computer or that multiple computers are too close together. Muting the mic can resolve the problem or identify which participant s are causing the problems. No one can see me: If you can't be seen - and can't see yourself - start by checking you've started video on the call.

Press the button in the bottom left-hand corner to make sure you've joined video on the call. Most calls start with video off. Check the camera you're using: Just as with audio, Zoom will let you choose which camera to use.

Tap the arrow next to the video button and a list of available cameras will pop-up. Check you're not using a camera that's covered or on a closed docked laptop, for example. It's also here that you'd be able to find virtual cameras, if you wanted to turn yourself into a cat. Confirm the video settings in Zoom: If you've tried both the above with no success, open the settings in the Zoom app and examine the "video" options.

You'll be able to see a preview from your webcam and select the webcams available. If you can't see a webcam preview, you'll have to check your computer settings and check your webcam is properly installed. My video is blocky and keeps freezing: Many quality issues in video are because of data. That might be because you don't have strong Wi-Fi, or there's someone else using bandwidth on your connection streaming in 4K or downloading large files, for example.

This problem remains even after restarting my laptop. Clicking the Leave button doesn't pop up the dialogue box to leave I do see a quick flash of it briefly sometimes , and choosing to quit the program from the taskbar doesn't seem to do much of anything. Once that has run head to zoom. If this does not assist please let me know, but hopefully a fresh installation should assist.

Very frustrating. Just wanted to update It seem that if I've screen shared some time since the last time I restarted my computer, it will suddenly come back. Hard to pinpoint and don't have a ton of time to test this. Also wanted to add de that I experience that same thing.

I have to end task a few different times on a couple different items in task manager to get it to fully close. When I start a meeting, I see this small window on screen - aomhost. I am not able to close that window. Nothing happens when clicking on OK or Cancel. I think the issue might be related to this also. Either restarting the PC or end task zoom helps resolve the issue for sometime.. I too am encountering this issue on a Windows 10 machine.

When it occurs, my attempts to click END or exit the Zoom meeting are ignored by the app. I'm unable to close the Zoom app in bottom right task bar also. The only way to quit meeting is to force-close the Zoom app within task mgr at which point it will typically re-start itself, often re-launching the same window, picking up where it left off. This ungraceful closing of the app then typically manifests itself with other lingering Zoom app instability issues audio, video, etc until the machine is restarted.

I'm having the same issue. The "aomhost" Window pops up when the meeting starts and then I am unable to leave the meeting at the end.

If I kill the Zoom processes in the Task Manager, it works, but only if I kill them in the right order. If not, the meeting re-opens. Same here. Symptoms exactly as described above, although I have not seen the aomhost window.

I uninstalled, re-installed and issue persisted. It is doing it on two Windows 10 boxes. My guess is that the latest Zoom update or a recent Windows patch has a bug that causes this. It got so bad that I literally bought a new tablet just to use for Zoom calls. Workaround : If you press Alt-Q a few times you will get the Leave Meeting popup, where you can click the button to exit.

Sure, pressing Alt-Q a few times works, but it's beyond absurd that you can't leave a zoom call on Windows 10 by pressing the LEAVE button if you shared your screen during the call. Is anyone from Zoom actually reading this and trying to fix it? This has been an issue for many many months. My IT team is also unhelpful. Explaining that if I uninstall, restart, re-install it will happen "less".

As someone who presents to executive leadership, this is an extremely unprofessional thing to have happen. I've reported to Zoom multiple times. Still, the problem continues to exist. Very frustrating and awkward as hell to say "bye" to everyone in a meeting that I own and then fumble to end the meeting while everyone begins to leave on their own I'm having the same issue, started 3 weeks ago, after over a year of working fine.

However, it does this even if there is no screen sharing. It does not happen every time, which has made it difficult to troubleshoot, but it happens in most meetings that last more than an hour. Latest windows 10 and zoom updates. Same issue s. Whenever I got the pop-up with the empty AOMhost error, Zoom completely froze up and disabled my audio. Whenever I shut down Zoom from my task manager, it just re-opened the app.

I did a re-install, which seems to have fixed the AOMhost issues, but now I can't leave meetings and is back to killing the app in the task manager. Yeah, that allows me to end the meeting. The AOMhost issue is still persistent and the popup only dissapears with a reboot of the machine now. We are also experiencing this issue. Ending from task manager just re-launches the meeting. The workaround is to press Alt-Q a few times until you get the popup that allows you to leave the meeting.

It did not work for me though. Multiple members in our organization experiencing this issue. We have 2 users in our organization having this problem as well I just submitted a ticket for support for it. We have several users in our company experiencing the same issue. Just sent in a ticket as well. This is so frustrating. Why can't someone at Zoom help figure this out?

I will be cancelling my subscription because of this. Support got back to us regarding the issue with a solution so far its been working. They sent over an exe file called CleanZoom. Restart computer. Reinstall Zoom. So far so good.

Unfortunately, I can't attach the exe file here- hit them up for it. I had the same issue. I ended up running the CleanZoom. The only downside is that the. The aomhost error is gone though. The screen share wasn't properly stopped and "lingered" causing all sorts of overlay issues for multiple programs, ZOOM being one of them. After properly stopping the SLACK screen share, all programs returned to their normal operating selves.

Exactly same issue for me too. I had exited a huddle while the screen was being shared and slack got confused. Couldn't exit slack, had to kill it.

Also, I have hp Pavilion with Microsoft Obviously something has changed, but I did nothing else aside from the update.
